Now Stan is flying to Illinois! He got a little lost on his last flight, but hopefully, there won't be any turbulence this time. Have a great week!

Stan visited the Arch!
Good morning, sixth graders! Stan visited St. Louis, Missouri, which is right in the middle of the United States. Look, here is Stan with my mom in front of my house:
Next, Stan visited the Gateway Arch. The Arch is a BIG, metal arch that sits right between the state of Missouri and the state of Illinois - where Stanley is heading right now.

Then Stan saw the Mississippi River, one of the longest rivers in the United States. It goes all the way from the very north down to the Gulf of Mexico!
Finally, F. Stanley Bear saw Busch Stadium, where the St. Louis baseball team, the Cardinals, play. It is brand new.

Now Stan is flying to Illinois! He got a little lost on his last flight, but hopefully, there won't be any turbulence this time. Have a great week!

Stan is in St. Louis!
Hi, sixth graders. I hope you are well! Stan got a little beat up in the mail, and he finally made his way to me about two weeks ago. I live in St. Louis, Missouri, right in the very center of the United States. Stan and I visited the Arch, the Mississippi River and my house.
I am still trying to upload my photographs. I might need a different kind of computer (a PC, instead of a Mac). But Stan is on his way to Illinois!

Stanley Visits New York
Hello Friends! Today I arrived in New York City! New York City is the biggest city in the United States! I am visiting Teacher Vicky's friend Chloe.
Chloe saw pictures of me playing in the snow in Providence. There is snow in New York too! So we went to Central Park to play in the snow. There was a lot of snow! There were also lots of people ice skating:

I could not go ice skating because there are no ice skates for bears. But we watched the people glide around the ice. It looked fun!
Then we went for a walk around the park. We saw some horses:

The horses pull carriages around the park. People like to ride in the carriages because it is old fashioned. I thought it looked slow.
There was a big glass cube near the park. I asked what it was. Chloe said it was a computer store. The store is underground. The stairs to the store are in the cube. I thought it was cool. We took a picture:
I'm standing on top of the store!
I wanted to see more of the New York City. But the city is so big! There are over 8 million people here! Chloe had an idea. We would go to the top of the tallest building in the city! From there, you can see a lot of New York.
We took the subway to get to the building. Here I am in the subway:
The train was so fast I was afraid it would blow me away!
We got off the train at the Empire State Building. The Empire State Building has 102 floors! It is 1,472 feet tall. It is the tallest building in New York City. Chloe told me it is the second tallest building in America. I told Chloe the tallest building in the world is in Taiwan.
We took the elevator to the 86th floor. Chloe was right! You can see almost the whole city from here:
The middle of New York City is on an island called Manhattan. Manhattan is much smaller than Taiwan. It is even smaller than Kaohsiung. But over one and a half million people live here. From the top of the Empire State Building, you can see the water surrounding the island:

It was very cold and windy on the top of the Empire State Building, so we didn't stay long. We went back to Chloe's apartment and she made hot chocolate. It warmed me up.
I like snow, but I am starting to miss my warm Island of Taiwan! I hope it is warmer in Washington D.C., where I am going tomorrow!

I'm in Rhode Island!
Hello friends! Christmas has come and gone. It was a wonderful holiday, and I made so many new friends in Boston with Miss Vicky's friend Michael.

It was time to travel again, but I did not want to go very far. Michael suggested that I get on a short train ride to Rhode Island.
Rhode Island is one of the fifty states in the USA. Not only is it the smallest state in the whole country, but guess what: it's not even an island like Taiwan! I don't know why it is called Rhode Island if it is not an island.
I got off the train in a city called Providence. It was beautiful! There was snow everywhere. Have you ever seen snow before? I met Miss Vicky's friend Patrick who was very nice and took me all around the city. We did a lot of exciting stuff. His friend Sara came with us too.
Here in the USA, kids like us like to make snow angels on the ground. You lay down in the snow and then start waving your arms and legs. When you stand up, it looks like there is an angel with big wings in the snow! Miss Vicky can show you how it works. I tried to make one, but it didn't work very well. Here I am, trying to do it:
Just like in Boston, I was freezing in Providence! Snow is so cold! Sara and Patrick took me to a store to buy a jacket. Here I am trying them on:
After I saw how much the jackets cost, I decided that I would feel better if I bought a hat instead. I picked out a soft red one. Here I am wearing it! Do you like it?
Across the street, I saw an ice cream shop called Ben & Jerry's. I told Sara and Patrick that I wanted to go inside to see what flavors they had. I tried a lot of different kinds, but my favorites were mint chocolate chip and chocolate cookie dough. They were soooo good. In this photo, I am posing with my new friend Lorraine. She let me try a lot of different kinds, and she was a very nice lady.
After eating so much cold ice cream and then going back outside into the snow, Patrick suggested to me and Sara that we go into a coffee shop to warm up. I love coffee shops! They are so warm and comfortable. Both Patrick and Sara had coffee, but I thought it was gross! I had a sweet chocolate drink instead.
I loved Providence. Patrick and Sara were so nice to spend the day with me. They took me back to the train station at the end of the day. After waving good-bye to them, I decided that I liked Providence a lot more than Boston. But it was time to start a new adventure.
New York City, here I come!

Christmas time!
Christmas is one of the biggest holidays in America. While we were exploring Boston, all of the stores were filled with Christmas decorations and lights.
Here in Boston, I have been celebrating Christmas with my new medical school friends. We all went to our friend's apartment to eat Christmas snacks and decorate a Christmas tree. It was really fun! We put ornaments and lights on the tree together. We had a contest to pick the ornament that went on the top. The turkey won! Isn't our tree beautiful?

Everyone is very excited to get presents and eat delicious food, but the most important part of Christmas is to be with family and friends. The airports, trains, and highways are filled with people traveling. I am thankful that I could spend Christmas with my new friends in Boston!

It is almost time for me to leave Boston for my next stop in the USA. I miss all of you at Taiping Elementary, and I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

Boston, USA
Hi Friends,
Boston was very important during the beginning of the United States. Many of the men and women who helped America become its own country lived here.
It is very cold here. You can see that everyone is wearing hats and coats. I wish I had brought more clothes!
Long time no see! I have finally made it to the United States of America. Now, I am visiting teacher Vicky's friend Michael in Boston. He is studying to be a doctor, and I have been going to class with him.
Boston is one of the oldest cities in the USA. It is on the eastern coast touching the Atlantic Ocean. Here is a cool map of the city I found at the Boston Public Library.

There are historic buildings and statues all over Boston. In this photo, Michael and I are with Sam Adams, one of America's most famous politicians.
It even has a Chinatown where there are shops and delicious restaurants. I even made new friends here when we went to eat lunch in Chinatown.

In Boston's biggest park, there was a gigantic Christmas tree. At night, it was filled with colored lights with a bright star on top.
I have really liked Boston so far. It is really exciting because it is almost time for Christmas!
We also visited Harvard University. It is in the oldest university in the United States. Harvard was founded in 1636! Here I am on one of the bridges at the school. You can see many old buildings on the river.
